La formation est assurĂ©e par les vingt enseignants universitaires qualifiĂ©s et les trois lecteurs francophones du plus ancien dĂ©partement dâĂ©tudes françaises en Hongrie (235 ans de recherches). Le DĂ©partement offre un cursus complet : licence, master, doctorat. Les Ă©tudiants recevront une formation pluridisciplinaire de haut niveau articulant des cours de langue, de littĂ©rature et de civilisation françaises (Voir la liste des cours sur le site internet). Le master se clĆt par la soutenance dâun mĂ©moire.
With more than 235 years of research and teaching, the Department of French Studies of the Faculty of Humanities is the oldest French department in Hungary. A total of 20 qualified instructors, including three francophone lectors, provide students with a multidisciplinary training composed of language classes, literary studies from the Middle Ages to the present time, and courses in French civilization.
In the scope of the Master program students will have the opportunity to prepare for doctoral studies.
The aim of this course is to train high-level specialists capable of meeting the specific demands of the labour market in the fields of cultural and intercultural exchange. In addition to local, national or international authorities in the public sector, it is important to underline the growing need for French graduates in the private sector, e.g. in multinational companies.
The training will also prepare students to continue in one of the Doctoral Schools of the Faculty.
Our graduates find positions mainly in the sectors of education and research, tourism management, banking and finance, and intercultural communications.
This program enables students to become scholars in French philology, organisers in various fields of French culture, experts on French culture, journalists, specialists in diplomatic affairs.
Le master permet aux Ă©tudiants de dĂ©couvrir des domaines de recherches en littĂ©rature française du Moyen Age Ă lâextrĂȘme contemporain dâĂ©tudier les littĂ©ratures francophones de pratiquer lâanalyse scientifique des discours et des textes littĂ©raires de mener une recherche documentaire en littĂ©rature dâĂ©laborer Ă lâĂ©crit des textes argumentĂ©s et articulĂ©s dâexposer Ă lâoral une argumentation claire et informĂ©e dâapprofondir leur formation linguistique et dâĂ©tudier des domaines de recherches en linguistique (synchronie et diachronie, linguistique thĂ©orique et appliquĂ©e) le master prĂ©pare les Ă©tudiants Ă poursuivre leur formation dans le cadre des Ăcoles Doctorales de la FacultĂ© : LittĂ©rature française du haut Moyen Ăge jusquâĂ nos jours Linguistique française (au sein de lâĂ©cole doctorale de romanistique).
In the Master program students explore different areas of research, such as French Medieval to contemporary literature, to practise the scientific analysis of discourse and literary texts, to conduct elaborate literary research, to form clear and informed arguments reflecting a deep linguistic understanding (of the synchronic and the diachronic aspects, from the theoretical to the applied linguistic points of view).

La formation Lettres modernes en gĂ©nĂ©ral, ainsi le master en langue, littĂ©rature et civilisation françaises a pour objectif de former des spĂ©cialistes de haut niveau capables de rĂ©pondre aux exigences du marchĂ© de lâemploi dans les domaines de la culture et des Ă©changes interculturels (secteur tertiaire, et plus spĂ©cialement les carriĂšres de lâinformation et de la communication : domaine artistique, presse, Ă©dition, traduction en sciences humaines, traduction littĂ©raire, etc). En outre des collectivitĂ©s locales, nationales ou internationales, il faut aussi souligner lâintĂ©rĂȘt croissant du secteur privĂ© (entreprises Ă vocation internationale) pour les HumanitĂ©s (indĂ©pendamment de la spĂ©cialisation). Une grande importance est Ă©galement accordĂ©e Ă la prĂ©paration Ă la recherche afin de permettre aux Ă©tudiants dâenvisager un doctorat.

Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a university bachelorâs degree (or an equivalent college degree) in the fields listed below. Full credit acknowledgement is only given for a Bachelorâs degree in Romance Philology, Specialized in French Studies or French as a Foreign Language Teacher qualification.
In case of any other degree, each diploma will be considered individually. The applicant must have at least 50 credits in the field of French studies (Linguistics, Literature and Culture) to enter the programme. Transcripts from your bachelor's degree as well as course descriptions will be requested.
The educational and outcome requirements are defined by the Ministry of Human Capacities, Regulation No. 18/2016. (VIII. 5.). Details of the application and admission process are defined by the Organisational and Operational Regulations of ELTE.

The deadline for application means the deadline of submission of the full and complete application package in the online system.

However, please note, that the Faculty of Humanities ELTE reserves the right to cancel the entrance periods in case the number of the admitted applicants reaches the limit during the previous entrance periods.

Entrance examination and selection process
When the university receives the full application package and it is checked by the Department of International Affairs an entrance exam date option will be sent no later than the application deadline for the relevant period. Please, check your messages in the application system, and the e-mail address that is linked to the account regularly. The applications are examined by the Admission Board no later than after each application period and applicants are notified of the outcome of the selection in the online application system after the decision is official. Admission letters are sent out in the online application system within a few days.
Procedure of the entrance examination
The entrance exam contains a discussion about the motivation of the applicant. Successful applicants must have a good command of English to pass the entrance exam. The format of the entrance exam is an online interview. Ranking is based on the overall evaluation of academic excellence (based on the submitted documents) and the results of the entrance exam.
